I think the first day went well.  We got to unofficially meet the students and get a chance to see where the classrooms are located.  I think Maxime the French chef made some of the students uncomfortable at first but they all seemed to find it funny.  This will be an excellent ice breaker to begin work with the students next time we meet.  I am excited to see what the semester brings and I think things are going to be challenging but good.

Things are going well at heights middle school. I have enjoyed getting to know the students and work with them in small groups. I feel this will be a great way to find out what they know and where the strength and weaknesses in poetry are. When Ryan and Kristi acted out the poem to Ms Evans class it was exciting to see the children become engaged. I was surprised when two of the students wanted to recite the poem  to the class. It felt it gave meaning to what we are doing.
