Maxime, you did it again! I don't know how many times I will have to be locked inside a closet so you can visit my students. Why don't you just ask me the next time. No doubt I would say YES, perhaps! But I'm glad that they had a chance to meet you. You are quite the character!!!

It was a pleasure to meet Maxime, he seems to have lived, and continues to live, a very interesting life. His talents in making tea and perfume are second to none, but I noticed that he particularly loves adjectives and details.  He was never satisfied with merely one word, first thought answers, but rather wanted thought, and details strong, pungent details.

It would be nice to meet him again, however, I do worry about his relationship with the vodka!

Maxime,

Well, well, well.  I have never met any character quite like you.  It was an interesting class, and I do wonder if our paths will ever cross again.

Hello Maxime, I must tell you that I have never met anyone quite like you. Your enthusiasm, excitement and energy were extraordinary. At one point during our time together, you talked about "thinking outside of the box" and "being unique." I found those words to be very appropriate because you appear to live "outside of the box" and you are quite "unique." I hope things go well in the perfume business.

Maxime…..well he was a very interesting character for sure. He was full of energy and portrayed a fun loving and motivated spirit. Maxime was undoubtedly entertaining, however I believe he had much more in mind besides entertaining the class. Maxime, with his vibrancy and silliness allowed the students in the classroom to loosen up a bit and take their “serious hats” off (to be replaced with chef hats perhaps) and embrace an unlikely character. He let the initial first day jitters and apprehensions be replaced with laughter and fun. Most importantly Maxime let us know that we were in a safe environment where it is ok to relax and be silly. Meanwhile he presented a useful skill- the art of incorporating storytelling with practical information. When Maxime poured the tea and presented the perfume, he pushed the class to think of adjectives that help describe the flavors and scents. This was a perfect display of how you can bring spice and flavor into a language arts lesson. I hope to run into Maxime again, only next time I hope he just gets permission from Frances instead of locking her in the closet!

Dear Maxime,

You haunt my dreams. Since the first day I saw you in our class room I have not been able to tear my thoughts from your memory. It is as if the aroma of you has lingered in my heart, you have penetrated my sole. I know it is silly, for I hardly know you, but believe me when I say it was love at first…smell. I feel as if I have known you all my life. Please do not take me as some love sick puppy, for I could not bare your rejection. I will be waiting anxiously for your return.

Forever yours,

-Your eternal amour.

I’ve rarely met people like Maxime before, our two characters are at two opposite ends.  I suppose that means I’m a textbook and he's a fold-out picture book.  If I’m exposed to him for too long I fear for my sanity.  Just joking.  I know that it is knowledgable that I get to see what children have an afinity towards, an exuberating personality with overflowing energy.  Maxime would create an environment where children would feel comfortable enough to express their emotions and thoughts without feeling out of place.

Maxime,

I would just like to say that you are quite a character.....Frances does run with a wild crowd.    However I thank you for the time you took to visit our class and hope to see you later.......maybe much..later.  It was interesting to sample your perfume concoctions.  It seems to be the right anecdote for headaches.  Take care and best wishes with your future ambitions.

Maxime...Maxime...Maxime!

You are quite a character! I have to say, when you first walked into my very first class at UNM I wasn't too sure what to make of you! You sure did make the day much more interesting with your fabulous stories, complete with pictures of celebrities, and new journey into the world of perfumes. I am glad i could help you with your experiments. Don't forget using the new base though. It looks as though the vodka is in the past and we should be looking into the future! Good luck! Till next time...

Yeah & Congratulations to all the poetry performers at the Farmington Public Library on Wednesday, Nov. 19. I think the Koogler Middle Schoolers really enjoyed our presentation. A picture of our group is posted on Valerie's webpage as well as on our children's class collection page at https://unm443.tripod.com/443collectionf08.html

Hope you had a good literature session with your Tibbetts 8th graders on Monday, Nov. 24. Our last session with them will be after Thanksgiving on Dec. 1. Our final class session will be Dec. 8 where we will showcase our webpages.

HOPE YOU HAD A HAPPY THANKSGIVING!-)...................Frances

I enjoyed the way Maxime was able to quickly respond to the students attitudes and responses. Children would get a kick out of Maxime. I think that adults need to have fun and behave as children, so that they in turn will be able to relate somewhat to their students.
